1. A Community Festival takes place at Bournemouth & Poole College's North Road Campus on Saturday. The event, in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, will see a BBQ, live music, bouncy castle, bar, cake stand, tombola, kids zone, face painting, stalls, performers and vintage photo booth. Entry is free and the festival runs between 11am and 5pm. 

2. The first ever Christchurch Supercar Show takes place on Sunday in the town centre. The High Street will be closed for the event, which will see around 50 Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maclaren cars on display to the public. Arriving from 11.45am, the cars will be free to view from 12noon until 4pm. There will also be international food stands and bars as well as entertainment for the whole family including a bouncy castle and live music. 

3. A giant wheel standing over 100ft tall arrives in Bournemouth on Friday. The wheel will be positioned at the Triangle until June 5 as part of the Bournemouth Wheels Festival, offering views across the town from its 27 rotating gondolas. During its first week, Bournemouth residents will be able to enjoy a 20% discount on a standard ticket by taking a driving licence or utility bill as proof of address. Standard tickets are £5 per adult or £3.50 for children under a metre tall.  

4. The Cursus Cider and Music Festival returns to Cranborne Chase for the second year in a row this weekend. Visitors can expect original music and local ciders and food. The ‘best West Country tattoo’ competition will also take place during the event. In total, 30 acts will perform on two stages including the Skimmity Hitchers and Pronghorn. Runs from Friday to Sunday in the fields of Canada Farm near Sixpenny Handley. Tickets are priced from £50 with discounts for under 18s. Visit cursusfestival.com

5. An early morning event for visitors to listen to birdsong at RSPB Arne Nature Reserve is taking place on Saturday. The event, which runs from 6am to 8am is free to attend, but donations to the charity are welcome with the opportunity to buy breakfast in the new cafe after listening to the dawn chorus. For more information, email Arne@rspb.org.uk or call 01929 553360.

6. A host of family-fun activities will be taking place at a village fayre at Lytchett Matravers Recreation Ground on Saturday. The free-entry event will feature climbing walls, well throwing, tea and cake from 2pm to 6pm.

7. A spring fair is being held at St Christopher's Church Centre on Burleigh Road, Bournemouth, on Saturday from 11.30am to 3.30pm. There will be a host of sells selling cakes, toys, children's books, crafts, bric-a-brac, gifts, plants, books, puzzles and refreshments available for purchase. Admission is 25p per adult and free for children. 8. A 4k colour run takes place to raise money for Oakhaven Hospice on Sunday. Runners will be dressed in a white T-shirt and pelted with brightly coloured powder paint as they pass through colour stations along the route. Last year's event saw more than 500 runners taking part and raised £18k for the hospice. Registration opens at 10am with the run starting at 11.30am.

9. The fifth annual Mini Steam on the Quay takes place in Poole on Saturday. Mini traction engines will be on display and running along Poole Quay between 10am and 5pm. The event will include the chance to ride on the special engines.

10. A sponsored walk for the Stroke Association is taking place in Poole Park at 2pm on Sunday, May 15. The route for Step Out for Stroke aims to be suitable for all ages and abilities, with registration open from 1pm on the day and entry costing £5 per person, which includes a t-shirt, medal and water.

11. A family festival takes place at David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Ringwood on Saturday. There will be live music with 'Jamtastic', a beer tent with local ciders and ales, dodgeball, a pool splash, tug of war, face painting, bouncy castle, inflatable sumo wrestling, a wife carrying race and more. Takes place between 12pm and 6pm.
