The first ever Folkish Festival comes to Upton Country Park on Sunday from noon to 9pm. There will be a host of live musical entertainment from acts including Rusty Shackle, Tankus the Henge, CC Smugglers and Threepenny Bit, as well as food, real ale and cider, crafts and more. Admission is £20 per adult, £10 per child and under-fives go free. Around 10,000 revellers are expected to pack out Baiter Park for the Poole St George's Day Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Several leading tribute acts are booked to perform at the two-day event including The Bowie Experience, Oasish, Kazabian and Badness.Aside from the music there promises to be a variety of children's entertainment, food and drink available. Adult day tickets cost £5 online or £6.50 on the gate.

Around 2,400 Scouts will take part in parades to celebrate the patron saint of England and Scouting on Sunday. Parades will take place in Bournemouth, Poole and Wareham. The Bournemouth parade will leave Durley Chine at 10.30am, passing the back of the BIC to Pier Approach and into the Gardens to the Band Stand a short presentation. Poole's parade will leave Poole Lifting Bridge at 2.30pm before walking the length of the Quay, passing the statue of Baden Powel, to the old lifeboat station. The Wareham parade starts at 1.30pm at Shatters Hill, moving North Street, South Street and then St. Marys Church.

A food and drink festival will take place at the RNLI College in West Quay Road for the first time on Saturday from 11am until 5pm. The event will feature live cooking demonstrations, stalls and more. Admission is free.

A Spring Fayre raising funds for new equipment at the children’s unit at Poole Hospital will take place at St George’s Church in Oakdale between 1-4pm on Saturday with games and refreshments, entertainments, a tombola, face painting and more.

The library on Blandford Road, Hamworthy, is holding a brunch from 11am to mark World Book Night on Saturday. Visitors are welcome to bring along their favourite book to swap with somebody else, participate in a book-themed quiz and take a Shakespeare-themed selfie. Go to Poole.gov.uk/libraries

St Peter's Church on Hinton Road will host a performance by the Bournemouth University Orchestra on Sunday. It is free to attend the event, entitled Symphonic Masterpieces, from 7pm to 9pm, which will be the orchestra's first concert of the summer programme, featuring Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 and Dvorak's Symphony No.8. Everyone is welcome to come along and for more information email Musicadmin@bournemouth.ac.uk or call 01202 965018.

An astronomy session is being held at The Purbeck Workshop on Saturday for cancer patients, their carers and their families. The event will be led by Bob Mizon from 8.30pm to 9.30pm at Unit 6 Woolbridge Business Centre on East Burton Road, which is open to beginners and booking in advance is not necessary. For more information, go to Purbeckworkshop.org or call 07757 776 907.

The Ringwood Skatepark at Carvers Recreation Ground will be officially opened on Saturday. Between 12pm and 4pm, there will be live music and professional skateboarders, scooter riders and skaters there to perform some tricks, as well as young people taking to the ramps. 

Horrible Histories illustrator Martin Brown will be guest of honour at an opening ceremony for the new Witchampton and Crichel Play Park on Saturday at 2pm. After the ceremony, visitors will be invited to take part in a St George's Day-themed fancy dress competition, enjoy a barbecue, cakes and refreshments, play on a bouncy castle and have their faces painted.

A Hidden Secrets of Bournemouth circular guided walk starts from Hotel Miramar on Sunday at 4pm and again on Monday at 10.30am. You will find out about the area’s history, famous residents and visitors, and discover some of the town’s hidden secrets.
