BAFTA winning The Picture of Dorian Gray retold by John Foster is set to come to Bournemouth's Shelley Theatre next month.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is to be retold to locals at a series of dates at the Shelley theatre in Bournemouth.
Independent theatre company Doppelganger Productions aim to produce inventive writing and stage work, looking to do so through the retelling of John Foster’s BAFTA winning depiction of Gray’s photographic ventures.
The play centers around photo journalist Dorian Gray and his obsession with beauty and image. He is set on capturing his youth and all the innocence that comes with it through photography, however this leads to disturbing and shocking consequences.
Charmaine K Parkin is directing the Shelly Theatre’s rendition of Dorian Gray alongside John Foster’s writing and it will be shown on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of March this year.
Alessandro Folayan Babalola will star as Bournemouth’s own Dorian Gray alongside Anna Newcome and Amelia Clegg as Basel Hallward and Henri Wotton.
Two students from Bournemouth Arts University, Maria-Helena Farah and Marie Austin, are both in their final year and have created costumes for the production. The costumes are said to capture the gripping moments during Dorian’s demise.
