For those who fancy exploring a bit more of what Bournemouth has to offer, check out the suburb of Boscombe.

You may have gone there for Treatment at the O2 Academy, but Boscombe offers an array of events, shops, eateries and free street wifi that you should check out during the daytime.

Introducing a beginners guide to Boscombe:

Urban Reef restaurant

Situated right next to Boscombe pier on the promenade, Urban Reef is an informal, chilled sea-view restaurant that has a delicious menu that doesn’t break the student budget. The restaurant is also open for hot chocolates, tea and cakes which you can have whilst surf-watching in their outside seating area. Check out their twitter for beautiful sunrises and sunsets over Bournemouth and mouth watering food snapshots. Whilst there, have a look at the Sorted Surf shop next door who sell surf and stand up paddle boarding lessons from £15.

Boscombe Vintage Market

Voted the best vintage clothes market in England in 2013, you can find the Boscombe vintage market at the Royal Arcade, off of the main high-street. The market happens on the first Saturday of February, May, October and December from 10am till 4pm. Selling an array of classic and vintage clothes, collectibles and textiles, and with live performances from local choirs, the lively atmosphere takes you back to another era. Follow their Facebook page and blog for future events and more information.

Cafe Boscanova

Calling all caffeine lovers! A quirky cafe that is related to Bournemouth centre’s South Coast Roast cafe,  Cafe Boscanova pride themselves on their fresh selection of  speciality coffee and deliciously healthy food. Voted by The Independent as one of the 50 best coffee shops in England, download their ‘Boscanova’ app on itunes to stay in touch with their latest offers!

‘Give or Take’ Days

An innovative and free recycling scheme, the Boscombe ‘Give or Take’ day takes place on Roumelia Lane from 10am on every first Saturday of the month. This event allows members of the community to bring along unwanted items whilst others have the chance to browse and take away items that would otherwise end up in landfill!

Boscombe Market

The only weekly open air market in Bournemouth, the Boscombe market has a variety of stalls. The fruit and veg deals are amazingly cheap- you’ll save yourselves a lot of food shopping money! Have a look at their website for more information.

Charity shops galore!

For those who love an absolute bargain and fancy a break from commercial shopping have a stroll down Boscombe high-street and you’ll come across an endless amount of second-hand, antique and charity shops. I really recommended considering there are only two charity shops in Bournemouth town!
