The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University have just announced that Bournemouth Raising and Giving have raised a grand total of £119,127 for local and national charities.
Bournemouth RAG is ran by students, with various events organised throughout the year which other University students can take part in. Major events held within the last twelve months have included Leggit, a challenge to get as far away from Bournemouth as possible without spending any money. This year’s victors reached the Czech capital Prague, while previous winners have also reached the Sahara Desert.
SUBU Actvities Development Manager Emma Smith said she was ‘delighted’ with the news, and the money raised will be shared by local charities Dorset Rape Crisis and Diverse Abilities Plus, with other national charities set to benefit.
Anyone can get involved with Bournemouth RAG at any point throughout the year, and students will be able to find out more about how to get involved at both the Freshers’ Fair held on 26th September, and the ‘Choose a Challenge’ evening held shortly after.
SUBU are hugely proud of all the students involved, and hope 2015/16 can be a similarly successful year for fundraising.
