A TEACHER training centre in Poole has come top of the class following a visit by government inspectors.
Ofsted has rated the Poole SCITT Teacher Education Partnership as ‘outstanding’ and praised its “consistently high completion and employment rates for all trainees”.
Two inspectors visited the SCITT, which stands for School Centred Initial Teacher Training, in June and September of this year.
In a report just published, they said strengths of the centre include the professionalism of the trainees, outstanding person-alised training, the clear vision of leaders and the high outcomes for trainees.
The SCITT is based at Ad Astra Infant School in Canford Heath and works in partnership with 29 primary schools, most in or near Poole.
All of the 29 trainees who attended in 2013/14 successfully completed the one-year courses and were awarded Qualified Teacher Status.
Inspectors added: “An exceptionally clear vision and determination to secure and maintain the highest possible quality of teacher training and outcomes are funda- mental characteristics of the partnership’s outstanding leader-ship.
“The quality of training is outstanding and meets the needs of trainees exceptionally well.
“Trainees’ subject knowledge is very secure.”
