INSPIRATIONAL children’s workers were recognised at a glitzy awards ceremony in Bournemouth.

The winners of Bournemouth’s Childcare and Children’s Centre Workers of the Year were revealed at the Early Years Sector Awards held at the Bournemouth International Centre last weekend.

The annual event celebrates the outstanding achievements within the childcare and children’s centre workforce.

And this year more than 400 local parents nominated their children’s teachers, nursery workers and carers.

The award for childminder of the year went to Nathalie Hamdi, the award for children’s centre worker of the year went to Talene Radjabi-Pittwood and Emma Henwood received the award for day nursery worker of the year.

Julie Finn won playworker of the year, Julia Hart received the pre-school worker award and special education needs worker of the year went to Davina Gahan.

The event is managed by the Early Years Service at Bournemouth Borough Council and supported by local businesses and organisations through sponsorship.

Deputy leader, Cllr Nicola Greene, cabinet member for education and children’s services, said: “We place our future generation in their hands and this is our chance to say thank you for the amazing daily work which takes place locally.”
