A KAYAKER was supported by coastguard and paramedics after he was stranded on Brownsea Island.

The man's kayak had flooded and the emergency services were contacted to aid him on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said the service were initially called at 12.05pm from Brownsea Island to reports a kayaker was stranded.

The man was safe onshore and transported by boat to Sandbanks where he was met by Poole Coastguard and an ambulance crew between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

HM Coastguard confirmed he had been wearing sufficient clothing, a wet suit and life jacket, but he was in danger of getting mild onset hypothermia.

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed one ambulance attended the incident involving one male patient, who was uninjured but cold.

The man was treated at the scene and did not go to hospital.
