A HORSE was rescued from a ditch by firefighters after it got stuck and started to sink.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a lady at 9am this morning reporting that a horse was in a ditch and was struggling to get out.
One crew from Bere Regis and animal rescue experts from Poole attended the incident and managed to haul the horse out of the ditch, before manoeuvring the animal into a nearby field, where it was tended to by its owners, before being passed into the care of vets.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We were called to the incident by a lady, who said the hors had become trapped in the ditch.
“Because of the condition of the ground due to the bad weather, the horse could not get itself right and was moving down further because of the waterlogging. “At 9.45am, crews had managed to get the horse out and move it into the centre of the field, making it comfortable and passed it into the hands of its owners and a vet.
“It is not yet know if the animal suffered any injuries.”
