THE RNLI came to the rescue of a powerboat that broke down at the entrance to Poole Harbour on Saturday.

The inshore lifeboat was tasked just before 4pm to an 18ft powerboat that required assistance, it had ran aground as it had lost power.

Once under way, the lifeboat volunteer crew received a call over the radio to inform them that the casualty vessel had been taken under tow by the harbour patrol boat, which was in the area.

Soon after, the lifeboat arrived on scene and the crew checked that everyone on board was safe and well, they then took over the tow of the stricken boat.

The lifeboat made its way back through the harbour with the vessel under tow, with two adults and two children on board, back to Cobbs Quay.

It returned to station, refuelled and was ready for service by 5.30pm.
