A man has been arrested following a collision which left another man with serious head injuries in Purbeck on Thursday night.

Emergency services were called to the B3069 West Street, near to the Kingston Country Courtyard around 10.50pm.

A black Skoda Yeti travelling from the Langton Matravers area towards Kingston had left the road, said a spokesperson for Dorset Police.

Two men aged 24 and 25-years-old, both from Reading, were in the vehicle which was travelling from Langston Matravers towards Kingston.  

The 25-year-old man suffered a fractured skull and dislocated shoulder. He is currently in a stable condition in Poole General Hospital. His family are aware.

Police, fire and the ambulance service attended the scene and the road was closed while the collision investigation team examined the area.

Police want to hear from witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have seen the manner of driving of the vehicle prior to the incident to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 494:16. 

Police Constable James Howes, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “We are making enquiries to determine exactly what happened.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact me.

“I would also urge anyone who saw the manner of driving of the Skoda immediately before the incident to contact Dorset Police on 101.”

A 24-year-old man from Reading has been arrested in relation to the incident and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
