A LANE of the A35 Upton Bypass was blocked after a van careered into the central reservation and rolled onto its side.
The van, which was travelling westbound towards the Baker's Arms Roundabout, collided with the central barrier and rolled over into the eastbound side. It blocked one of the lanes towards Poole.
Police were called to the scene just before 5pm. Paramedics were also called, but the driver is not thought to have sustained any serious injuries, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said.
No other vehicles are involved, they added.
Travel Dorset was warning of heavy delays on the bypass after the crash.
The local authority has been informed of damage to the central reservation.
Police fully re-opened the road at around 6.30pm.
