BUS users in Poole are being asked to give their views on proposals to save £100,000 from the council's bus subsidy budget.

Six subsidised bus routes have been identified for consideration for change or withdrawal by the Borough of Poole (BOP).

They include removal of the Broadstone loop on Route 18; reduction in frequency on Route 20; withdrawal of Fern Barrow on Route 26; withdrawal of Route 128, to be partially replaced with revised service 10; withdrawal of school days Route 445 or increase fares to achieve saving; and withdrawal of school days Route 744 or increase fares to achieve saving.

BOP cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, Cllr Drew Mellor, said: "The council has been making good progress to reduce expenditure in the light of unprecedented funding reductions.

"Negotiations with the bus companies have identified a small number of bus services we are seeking views on reducing or withdrawing.

"We will also be liaising directly with schools and other organisations that may be affected, but would really encourage all bus users to take part in this survey and give us their views."

The consultation, at poole.gov.uk/bussubsidies, ends on November 13.

The council insists no decisions will be taken until the New Year, with any changes implemented from May 2017.
