RESIDENTS in Poole can now register their interest in living in the town's newest housing development.

Trinidad Village, a £10 million project jointly funded by Borough of Poole and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA), comprises 54 one and two bedroom flats.

It brings together the high level care services offered in residential care with the accommodation and independence of living in your own home.

When completed in the autumn, the Poole Housing Partnership-managed scheme, which is located off Rossmore Road, will help reduce reliance on residential care and offer accommodation choices to people with disabilities and adults with care needs.

It will also be a resource for the wider community, with a café, community spaces and a hair salon open to all.

Borough of Poole council leader Janet Walton said: "I was really impressed by the progress made on this development during my recent visit to the site.

"The flats are a really good size and I particularly liked the central courtyard which really gave a sense of community to Trinidad Village."

Bruce Voss, HCA area manager, said: " The Homes and Communities Agency is pleased to have been able to help fund the Trinidad Village scheme through our affordable homes programme. This scheme is well designed and will provide really good quality affordable housing for Poole residents."

Cllr Karen Rampton, cabinet portfolio holder for housing and community at BOP, said: "Extra care housing provides a perfect opportunity for residents to remain independent while at the same time knowing they have the security of 24-hour care provision on site should they require it.

"I look forward to welcoming the first residents to their new homes when the project is completed."

Six of these brand new apartments are being sold and the other 48 are available to rent.
