A MAN has been arrested after a stabbing in Poole Park on Saturday.

A 37-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Officers and search teams were seen scouring the park on Sunday afternoon following the incident on Saturday evening.

The victim, a 59-year-old local man, was walking through the park on Saturday evening when he was approached from behind by the offender and stabbed once in the stomach.

The victim managed to walk to Poole Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

His condition is not life-threatening, police say.
