A HOST of Dorset-based producers turned out for a Poole shopping centre's first food festival at the weekend.

The Taste Festival took place across Saturday and Sunday at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, offering cooking demonstrations, samples and opportunities to purchase products from companies based in the county.

Bini Ludlow, who runs Sweet Cumin, an authentic Indian cookery school, was showing shoppers how to make a host of dishes at the centre, including three different curries.

She said: "The idea of the Taste Festival is about getting people to use and buy local produce from local producers.

"The cooking demonstrations are about how people can use local food, including home-grown vegetables, and to get them excited about cooking."

Lots of shoppers turned out more to see what was on offer and learn about where the jams, cakes, fruit and vegetables, pies and drinks had come from.

Other companies who held stalls at the event included Cherry Tree Preserves, Manna Kitchen, AS Bakes and The Brew House.
