Police are appealing for witnesses after a female cyclist was injured in a crash on Monday evening.

The 59-year-old woman was in collision with a blue VW Passat in Kingland Road, Poole, just before the Seldown Bridge at 5.30pm.

The cyclist, a 59-year-old woman, was knocked off her bike and sustained what was described at the time as slight injuries but later discovered she had suffered serious leg fractures.

The driver of the Passat immediately stopped at the scene, administered first aid and drove the cyclist to hospital.

Police Constable Tim Brehmer, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “There are no questions over the behaviour of the Passat driver after the incident as we know he stopped at the scene and assisted the cyclist at great length.

“As part of my investigation, I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving or riding of the car or bicycle prior to the incident. I have released a photograph of the bicycle to jog people’s memories”.

Any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles beforehand, are asked to contact PC Tim Brehmer on 101.
