A 48-FOOT yacht was just one of the vessels towed to safety by Poole’s RNLI volunteers on Saturday.
The all-weather lifeboat was sent by Solent Coastguard to assist the vessel, which had encountered engine failure just off Bar Buoy, near Studland Bay.
After the crew of four were checked over, RNLI crew members began to tow the yacht to Poole.
While on their way, they were flagged down by the crew of an 18-foot speedboat with two people onboard, which had also broken down.
Both vessels were taken under tow, with a request made to officers to send the inshore lifeboat for the stricken speedboat.
When the second RNLI boat arrived, the yacht and the speedboat were towed back through the bridges to Cobbs Quay.
