SUPERMUMS Laura Hitchcock and Elaine Croft, who both work in Sturminster Newton, will go head to head in competition for the Gurgle Blog Awards after they reached the final for the best blogs written by British parents.

The award, sponsored by Mothercare and Early Learning Centre, includes eight different categories and on the judging panel is celebrity baby expert and editor of Gurgle magazine Myleene Klass.

Laura, a mother of four, founded LittleStuff, an online shopping directory in 2005. Since then it has grown to become one of the most popular parenting and lifestyle blogs around.

On hearing the verdict, Laura said: “ I’m really thrilled to have reached the finals of the Gurgle Blog Awards, and it’s fantastic to be in the company of so many great blogs. Two of us coming from Sturminster is actually unbelievable.

“Running a business alongside being a busy parent is difficult at times, but blogging is such an immediate and personal way to contact with people it just makes life easier”.

Elaine Croft, mother of three, founded her business online selling handmade gifts for mums and babies. It has now expanded so much she has had to outsource manufacturing to India and recently moved into a brand new studio in Sturminster.

Elaine said: “I’m still in shock, I’ve only been blogging since January 2011. This is all very new to me, but very exciting. The two of us being finalists for this award is unbelievable. What are the chances?”

Readers have until September 7 to get their votes in for their favourite bloggers.

The awards ceremony will be held in the prestigious Soho Hotel in London the following day and both Laura and Elaine have been invited to attend.
