A man was attacked with a claw hammer before having a car driven at him in Blandford last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in Damory Court Street in Blandford at 9.12pm.

Officers were called after reports a 31-year-old man had been injured by a claw hammer, before being driven at by a second man in a Mercedes car.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and stomach and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A 30-year-old man from Blandford has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

All three men are currently assisting officers with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Andrea Power said: “A full and detailed investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances around this incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police, to please get in touch with us urgently.

“A cordon is currently in place while investigations are ongoing and officers from the neighbourhood policing team continue to conduct house-to-house enquiries and can be contacted with any concerns.”
