FIREFIGHTERS have used hydraulic cutting gear to free a woman from the wreckage of a Land Rover that was involved in a collision on the Blandford bypass earlier today.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and Dorset Police were called to the A354, close to the Langton Long turn off.

Police closed the road at the Tesco side of the bypass and at Ringwood Road while emergency services were at the scene.

A Dorset Police spokesman told the Daily Echo: "Although the woman needed to be extracted from a vehicle her injuries are not thought to be serious."

The blue Land Rover Freelander was registered to a Wimborne woman, while the other vehicle involved was a white VW Crafter van registered to a company from Hertfordshire.

Emergency services were called to at 11.15am and the road closures will remain in place until recovery of both vehicles.
