DORSET causes are among those to benefit from a national house builder's community fund.

North Dorset Rugby Football Club and Citizens Advice groups for North Dorset and Purbeck are among the organisations to receive donations from the Persimmon Homes South Coast Community Champions scheme.

Managing director Matt Paine said: "The Community Champions scheme was devised to help small local charities and groups, each of these organisations display all the qualities that make the perfect Community Champion.

"For that reason we are more than happy to be supporting the fundraising efforts of such worthy groups working hard to make a real difference to the lives of ordinary people."

North Dorset Rugby Football Club is a thriving family oriented club which welcomes players of all ages.

The Community Champions donation from Persimmon Homes will help the club to provide each child with a match and team shirt as well as support t-shirts for adults.

Citizens Advice North Dorset provides free, confidential and impartial information and advice on a wide range of subjects for the local community. The match funding donation from Persimmon Homes will enable the group to offer home visits to the elderly and disabled.

Meanwhile Purbeck Citizens Advice will use its £1,000 windfall to help provide free sessions to those experiencing poverty, helping them to increase basic skills as well as reducing isolation to improve individual’s chances of moving out of poverty.
