DETAILS of Ringwood's first ever musical fireworks display to mark bonfire night have been revealed.

The event, which will take place at Carvers Recreation Ground on Sunday November 5 from 5pm, includes a traditional bonfire, bar area and hog roast.

In the past two years the display has been on Friday evening, but organisers say they hope Sunday will draw a bigger crowd.

The council event will be overseen and organised by Ringwood Events Committee, which has reformed.

Tickets will be available in advance of the event at a cost of £1, with pre-school children admitted for free.

The fireworks are scheduled to begin shortly after 7pm.

In preparation for the event, the organisers are still looking to secure funding through sponsorship opportunities.

The committee hopes by moving the event to Sunday more people will be able to attend and the earlier start time has been chosen to allow families with younger children to also enjoy the evening.

Cllr Philip Day, who is helping to organise the display, said: "The success of the event is dependent on the weather, but we hope two to three thousand people will turn up.

"A lot of work is being done to bring everything together and we expect it to be a very popular display for everyone in the town.

"It will be the first time the display has been accompanied by music, which should add to the spectacle."

"We're looking for businesses to the support the event, with opportunities to sponsor the different parts of the event as well as a title sponsor for the overall display.

"It will be a council event, but organised by the resurrected events committee."

Cllr Day added the committee was planning to offer a small collection of fairground rides for children, but work to finalise this was ongoing.
