A SEARCH is being carried out to find a member of a Lymington yacht club who went missing earlier this month.

Hugh Carter, a member of Keyhaven Yacht Club, was last seen leaving the clubhouse at around 9.45pm on Sunday, November 6.

Aged in his 70s, he lives on a boat, ‘Norisle’, at the entrance to the lake.

Hugh was reported as missing to the police after his dinghy was found by Hurst Castle beach the following morning.

According to the club, an 'extensive' search of the Keyhaven area was carried out by officers, as well as the RNLI, Coastguard, and club members.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said “specialist teams” were continuing the search.

In a notice to members of Keyhaven Yacht Club, a spokesperson said: “It is with grave concern that the Commodore and general committee inform you that Hugh Carter, a member of Keyhaven YC, has been declared missing.

“The authorities and club members continued their search throughout the week and weekend but as yet have no firm news.”
