A pony was badly injured in a hit-and-run incident and had to be humanely destroyed.
The collision occurred on the road from Ipers Bridge to Hilltop, near Beaulieu.
Elsewhere, a pony was reported to have been involved in an incident at Rhinefield Road in Brockenhurst.
The New Forest Verderers say a search was carried out but the animal could not be found.
