A WOMAN was rescued after sinking in mud by firefighters in the New Forest.

The 55-year-old got stuck in a bog close to Clayhill car park off the A337 in Lyndhurst at around 1.16pm yesterday.

Fire crews from Brockenhurst, Redbridge and Totton fire stations arrived to find her thigh deep in the quagmire.

They pulled her out and passed her to crews from South Central Ambulance Service who checked her over.

The woman was unharmed in the ordeal.
