A NEW Milton man has been arrested after a sexual assault in Lymington.
The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday in an alleyway near Harvester Way in Lymington, a spokesperson for Hampshire Police said.
Officers are working with the 20-year-old victim to establish exactly what happened.
A 27-year-old man from New Milton has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Police cordoned off Marsh Lane in Lymington, close to the junction with Harvester Way on Sunday.
Officers wearing white suits were seen scouring through hedges and undergrowth.
Residents said the police presence was ‘highly unusual’.
