ONE road, two speed limit signs but which one is correct?

These two contradictory road signs have been spotted in Wimborne.

Marcelle King from Upton, was visiting a client when she noticed a 60mph sign on the left-hand side of the road and a 30mph speed limit sign on the opposite side at Cowgrove.

After being left baffled by the picture, Marcelle posted the photo in the Daily Echo’s Camera Club group on Facebook.

The post attracted a number of comments from fellow members about which sign had been turned around to face the wrong way.

Marcelle said: “It’s not obvious which way round it should be. On one side there’s a single-track country lane and on the other, there’s a T-junction that goes into a 30mph zone.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous. What you can’t see is if you turn around it’s an absolute blind spot. Traffic just flies up the road. My face almost got taken off by a 4X4 that came around the corner.”

She added: “My client who lives there didn’t even know they’d been turned round.”

Marcelle said: “I just thought it was really quirky. There’s nothing logical about it.”

A Dorset County Council spokesperson said: “These signs should both be displaying the same speed, with the 30mph for ‘built up areas’.

“We’ve passed this photo on to the local community highways officer for inspection. Anyone can report road issues online, which are then passed on to the relevant highways team to look into.”
