FOR some people it marks the beginning of the Christmas season.

The Great Pudding Stir sees visitors to the Priest's House Museum and Garden in Wimborne invited to tuck into a plate of Christmas pudding prepared according to the 1861 recipe of Mrs Isabella Beeton by Eileen Carter, ably assisted by Pam Willis.

Visitors to the museum at the weekend were also invited to stir the pot of pudding mix and make a festive wish.

Mike Carter, who with his wife Eileen and Pam gets into the spirit of the event with Victorian dress, said: "We hold the event in the second weekend of December and it is usually very popular, and of course the Save the Children Parade is at the same time.

"Mainly we do this to get people into the museum.

"People come in and say it is the start of their Christmas. It is a unique event. There are a few places you can pick up a Christmas pudding but not many made to this original recipe."
