A LIGHT aircraft sitting on the green outside Wimborne Minster was not just a flight of fancy.
While residents and visitors were surprised to see a Cessna 150 aircraft parked next to the church on Saturday, it was part of the Mission Aviation Fellowship Focus Weekend (MAF) – the latest charity to be supported by the Minster.
A coffee morning was held in Church House while the aircraft sat on the green, which raised £120 for MAF Funds.
The preacher at the parish Eucharist on Sunday was Kevin Crook, head of MAF in the Community.
MAF, a voluntary organisation founded 71 years ago, has 140 aircraft, the majority of which are six to 10-seaters, unlike the two-seater on Minster Green.
Flying onto desert and jungle airstrips, lakes and rivers, tracks and roads, MAF’s light aircraft and their mission pilots work in partnership with hundreds of Christian and relief organisations to provide practical help, physical healing and spiritual hope to remote and inaccessible communities around the world.
