THE A31 was closed near Sturminster Marshall following a crash involving three cars.
Police and ambulance were called to the collision at 12.55pm.
The road was closed eastbound at Roundhouse Roundabout. There were long delays at the scene, with traffic queueing westbound.
A blue Audi A4, a black Audi A3, and a blue Ford Mondeo were involved in the crash.
A recovery vehicle was requested.
Nobody is believed to be injured, according to a spokesperson for Dorset Police, but an ambulance was requested as a precaution.
The local authority was called to deal with some fluid and debris on the road.
The road was re-opened at around 2.30pm, the spokesperson added.
