CHRISTCHURCH Christian Centre is an Elim Pentecostal Church that now meets in the former URC building in Millhams Street, Christchurch. On the weekend of May 12 and 13 the church is celebrating 90 years of Elim in Christchurch and anybody who has been involved with the church in the past is welcome to join us.
But I need your help please as I try to establish the history of the church. In May 1928 Miss Reuss and Miss Hawes held the first Elim meetings in the Dance Hall (now the Regent Centre) in Christchurch High Street. Does anybody know anything about these meetings or the two ladies involved? The Elim Church first met in an upstairs room in Millhams Street, but does anybody know exactly where? Do you know about Mr F Robertson, a key figure in the early days?
In 1939 the church moved to Jumpers Road and then in 1998 to the present church building.
I am looking for photos and memorabilia to create displays of the history of the church. If you think you can help please contact me through the church, enquiries@christchurchchristiancentre.org or me directly on 07983863896 or prhannam@aol.com
Thanks.
