THERE was a whole load of stomping going on at Christchurch Quay when musicians played up a storm at the town’s greatest open-air jazz event.

Stompin’ on Quomps kicked off at noon with Not Just Sax, featuring Sarah Bolter. Their set was followed by Lemon Grove, the Red Stripe Band, and the Baddest Blues Band Ever, before Taverner’s Big Band wound up the proceedings at 10pm.

Organiser Adrian Dwyer said people attending the free event had come equipped for changeable weather. One person gave a £50 donation on the day towards the running costs. “I don’t know whether he felt sorry for us,” he said.

The expanded festival included food and drink stalls and a programme prize draw for tickets to see the West End show Stomp or lunch for two at the Captain’s Club Hotel.
