A MAN has been arrested after an attempted knifepoint robbery at a convenience store in Christchurch in January.

At 8.35pm on Monday, January 15, Dorset Police was informed that a man had entered the Nisa store in Marlow Drive and demanded money from the till.

He produced a large silver knife and threatened the shop assistant, however the two members of staff working in the shop at the time left the store and contacted the police, one defending himself with a wooden stool and pressing a panic alarm.

Nobody was injured during the incident and nothing was taken from the store.

Police said a 31-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released under investigation.
