A PATH to a Christchurch beach has been closed with “immediate effect” because of structural concerns.
The zig zag path running from Highcliffe Castle to the beach was closed yesterday afternoon, Friday.
The decision was made by Christchurch Council due to “further deterioration of the structural retaining wall”.
Work will begin next week to explore possible solution, say the council.
The same zig zag path was closed in August last year over safety concerns.
During the closure members of the public will be able to access the beach via a set of steps further along the cliff top to the right of the zig zag.
Other car parks with sloping access to the beach can be found at Highcliffe cliff top by the Cliffhanger Cafe and at Friars Cliff.
