YOUNGSTERS from Christchurch Music Centre performed to a packed out Priory church recently.

The members performed a collection of music ranging from Disney favourites, Christmas at the movies and traditional Christmas music.

The concert was in aid of the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital.

Neal Williams, trust secretary for Macmillan Caring Locally, said: “We are very grateful to the youth band for entertaining us with a selection of Christmas songs, and we are delighted to benefit from the Christchurch Music Centre Christmas concert at the Priory.

"We are delighted so many people could join us for this wonderful Christmas celebration.”

Music director Polly Philips said: “Macmillan is an important and valued institution in our community and therefore we decided to use our annual Christmas concert to raise funds for Macmillan Caring Locally.

"Many members of the band have had grandparents or family members cared for by the Macmillan team and supporting the great work they do is important to us.

"We have some very talented musicians in the wind band and they have been rehearsing incredibly hard over the last term and I was delighted at how good they were."

She added: “For our young people to have performed in such a big concert is a fantastic experience for them.

"The opportunity to raise funds for Macmillan is also very important to them. As well as money donated at the concert, the band has created a Just Giving web page. We would be delighted with every donation helping us with our fundraising.”
