Elderly man taken to hospital after house fire
AN ELDERLY man was taken to hospital last night following a house fire in Christchurch.
The incident was called into the fire service just before 10.05pm, with two fire crews heading to the scene in Hinton Wood Avenue.
The crews found that there had been a small fire in the lounge of the property involving smoking materials, which was out on arrival.
A fire service spokesperson confirmed that the elderly male was suffering with smoke inhalation and lacerations to his head and arm, which required treatment at hospital.
