DOG bins have been replaced at a Christchurch beauty spot after reports of dog mess piling up.
Two bins were removed at Stanpit recreation ground recently before new ones were installed at the popular dog walking spot.
But after reports of bags being left where the bins once stood, Dorset Waste Partnership has restored the old ones.
Mike Moon, head of operations at the DWP, said: “Two dog bins were removed recently at Stanpit recreation ground in preparation for new multi-use bins - combined litter and dog waste - to be installed.
"However, we have since been informed that dog waste is being left at the locations where the old bins used to be.
"Therefore, we are going to restore the old bins as soon as possible until the replacements are ready.
"We will also endeavour to clear the existing dog waste at those locations and put up signs informing visitors of what’s happening.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. In the meantime, residents are reminded that dog waste can be put into any standard litter bins in the area.”
