Temporary traffic lights put in place on the A35 earlier this week while emergency gas works were carried out have returned.
Four way temporary lights placed were outside the Cat and Fiddle pub on Tuesday so engineers could repair a gas leak.
A spokesperson for SGN said today the lights would now remain in place until at least the weekend.
They said: "Following our work yesterday evening, one gas escape has now been pinpointed and repaired, however we do still have another escape at this location to locate and repair.
"Therefore, the temporary traffic lights will remain in replace as we continue our work, which is likely to last up until the weekend at least. This is a particularly challenging job for us, due to the gas pipe being made of steel rather than cast iron.
"This work has been scheduled to take place during the half-term holiday week when traffic tends to be lighter.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys.
