THERE were long delays on the A35 at Christchurch this afternoon after a van overturned.

Police were called at 2.30pm to reports of a collision between a white Ford Transit registered to a company from Leicester and a blue Mazda belonging to a Christchurch man on Barrack Road.

Ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene, however nobody was trapped in either vehicle and there are no apparent injuries, according to a Dorset Police spokesperson.

Motorists were reporting lengthy queues as far back as Royal Bournemouth Hospital. There was also congestion towards the B3073 Bargates. This was due to oil on the road, which has now been removed.

The road was briefly blocked at Maundeville Road, and officers were managing traffic at the scene with vehicles taking turns to pass near the Tesco Express.
