TRAILS, music and a festival village - there's much more to Christchurch Food and Wine festival than yummy goodies.

This year, organisers have made some improvements to the format, with two full days of live music and entertainment to feature around the town on the main festival weekend of Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10.

The entertainment programme is jam-packed with acts, who will be performing at Christchurch bandstand, Saxon Square and Priory Gate in Church Street.

They include Swing Unlimited Big Band, Highcliffe Charity Players, Celtic Confusion, Christchurch Music Centre and many more.

And there are also a range of trails people can take part in during May, including a coffee and cake trail, cocktails and real ale.

As well as the main festival weekend, restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and hotels throughout Christchurch will be offering all sorts of excellent offers, special events and delicious menus until May 31.

And on Saturday, May 16, Highcliffe Revival Food Festival will be launched in the seaside village, with food stalls and cookery demonstrations.

There will also be music and entertainment from 10am until 5pm, with TV chef Valentine Warner demonstrating at 11.30am.

Local chefs will then be showing their cookery talents throughout the day.

Over the main event this weekend, organisers are also trying to encourage people to travel via public transport or by bike or on foot.

Parking could be a particular problem on Saturday, due to the election count at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre, they predict.
