DESIGNER handbags will be sold off to raise money for a Christchurch charity on Thursday.

The Autism Wessex handbag auction, backed by the Daily Echo, will take place at 1812 bar and restaurant in Bournemouth.

And the range of top handbags on sale includes an elegant Mulberry Lily along with others from Aspinal of London, Russell and Bromley and The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Becky Chalk, community and events fundraiser, said: “We are encouraging people to get their tickets now as they are selling fast.

“It is a great opportunity to grab yourself a stunning new bag for less than the RRP, all while supporting a great cause.”

Autism Wessex hosts the Helping Handbag Auction to raise funds for three vital elements of the charity: the advocacy and advice service; set-up costs for new adult residential homes; and resources and equipment for Portfield School.

Becky added: “We are looking forward to a successful night where we can raise funds for those in our community affected by autism.

“Tickets are just £10 and include a glass of Prosecco on arrival and entry into our Golden Ticket competition - everyone who comes along will receive a Golden Ticket, which will enter them into a prize draw for a bottle of bubbly on the evening.”

Tickets can be booked online at autismwessex.org.uk/book_event/handbag-auction.

The event is sponsored by Williams Thompson Solicitors with Basepoint Business Centres Bournemouth pledging to match the money raised at the event.

All the money will go to the charity to support people who use the services.
