A GALLERY on display at a Bournemouth library is bidding to raise awareness on antisocial behaviour in the borough - whilst the photographer is calling on the council to take action.

The collection of images in the window display of Kinson Hub include burnt out vehicles, graffiti and fly-tipping.

Alan Roberts of Ensbury Park is the photographer behind the display and he hopes the images will highlight the problem to both the council and members of the public.

"I hope something will be done about the situation. I think there is a total lack of enforcement and accountability," Mr Roberts said.

"The photos show some of the things that are going on in the town that don't get a lot of attention.

"It's okay developing pier approach and investing money for tourists, but more needs to be done throughout the borough.

"Hopefully the gallery will get some reaction from councillors and action will be taken.

"The councillors spend countless amounts to benefit tourists and the areas they visit, but you don't have to go far to find these terrible sites.

"I've reported the fly-tipping to the police but all they say it's not a criminal offence."

Mr Roberts, who is retired and a keen photographer, took the images on various journeys around Bournemouth.

In recent months, fly-tipping across the area has been a prominent talking point, with residents sending pictures to the Daily Echo of dumping hotspots in their area.

When asked about the ongoing issue of fly-tipping in the town Stuart Best, Bournemouth Borough Council's street services manager, said: “Fly tipping is unacceptable and is an offence which we take very seriously, investigating any reports and prosecuting anyone who is caught fly tipping their waste. We would urge the public to report any fly tipped waste to our customer services team on 01202 451199.”

The gallery at Kinson Hub is on display until July 24.
