LUXURY beach 'lodges' kitted out with central heating, hot showers and double beds will be open to the public next month.

Visitors will be able to stay in the huts at Manor Steps near Boscombe from early April.

The row of 15 eco-friendly lodges, each of which feature fully-equipped a galley kitchen, living area and bathroom, WiFi, TV and heating, can sleep four adults and two children.

Prices at the £1.75 million development start at £450 for a mid-week, spring break, rising to £1,875 for a 10-day break in August or at Christmas.

Improved toilet facilities are already in place at Manor Steps, while a new refreshment kiosk and a small manned beach office will also be built at the site.

New solar-powered lighting bollards have also been installed along the zig-zag path which leads to the beach from Boscombe Overcliff Drive.

It is hoped that the huts will attract more families to the area.
