THE home of the Daily Echo has become the 10,000th building to attract contributions from the public at an important online database.
Historic England described the building as a “Grade II Art Deco gem in Bournemouth”.
It keeps an online list of historic buildings, which the public can “enrich” by adding photos or information.
Philip Butler, who describes himself as an “Art Deco obsessive”, added photos to make the entry the 10,000th to be enriched.
The home of the Echo was built from 1932 by Seal and Hardy, with the paper finally moving in its operations in 1934.
Historic England’s entry describes the building as a “notable example of Art Deco offices”.
Historic England spokesperson Celia Knight said: “It’s the 10,000th building or place where an image or some extra information added by the public.
“We’re encouraging anyone to do it.”
