AN industrial site will be demolished to make room for family homes.
The revised planning application for the Jecco House site in Boscombe Grove Road, Springbourne, was approved by six votes to one at a planning board meeting on Monday.
The proposal will see 19 houses and two blocks of seven and eight flats constructed on the site, which is currently the base of AIM Aviation.
Residents living nearby had previously expressed concerns about overlooking and security, with the original plans showing several alleyways behind the blocks. However council officers claimed these issues had been addressed in the revised scheme.
Board member Councillor Philip Stanley-Watts said: "It is not perfect in every way but something needed to be done on that site and it is the best design for the site. Family homes with gardens are needed."
AIM Aviation is moving to new headquarters at Bournemouth Airport.
