BAND Sunset Sons will see Bournemouth from both the sand and the stage this month as they join a beach clear-up hours before performing a headline show.

The group will join other volunteers for the Surfers Against Sewage Autumn Beach Clean, which will take place between noon and 2pm on Sunday, October 30.

All coastal enthusiasts - from big wave surfers to sandcastle builders - are invited to join the band as part of the clean.

Sunset Sons, who will act as 'lead volunteers' as part of the initiative, are due to perform at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on the same day.

Dom Ferris, Surfers Against Sewage’s projects manager, said all at the organisation are "incredibly proud" of the band.

"These tireless individuals set a truly inspiring example for us all," he said.

"Let’s recognize this effort and join them in protecting our beautiful beaches.”

As part of this year's beach clean, volunteers are being asked to support the new 'message in a bottle' campaign by recording and recycling all plastic bottles found.

Bottles and cans make up around 40 per cent of all litter by volume.

Gary Thompson, coastal manager of the Crown Estate, said: “As owner of around half the UK foreshore, we know that protecting and enhancing the coastal environment is crucial to the future of wildlife and the sustainable development of this natural asset over the long term.

"As a result, we're delighted to be working again with Surfers Against Sewage to support these events which provide people with an opportunity to play a part in protecting their favourite beaches and gain an understanding of the coastal zone.”
