WORK continues in building a new £1.5million home for a colony of penguins in Bournemouth.
The Oceanarium, based on the seafront, is being expanded by a third of its current size to feature a beach, pool and underwater viewing area.
It is hoped that the works, which started in October, will be finished and open to the public by the summer.
James Eels, UK director at the Oceanarium, says that he is delighted that the works will offer new and exciting opportunities thanks to the biggest project undertaken in the Oceanarium’s 16-year history.
He said: “I am confident that the penguins will be an amazing addition and the penguin enclosure has been specially designed for people to get up close and personal with the animals.”
