AN empty former 'drum workshop' and café in Pokesdown could become a new microbrewery.
Small independent pubs brewing their own beer have been springing up across the conurbation in recent months as the microbrewery craze, long running in the capital, spreads into the regions.
An application by the Southbourne-based Way Outback Brewing Company has been submitted for the dilapidated former drum workshop at 144 Seabourne Road, which has been empty for several years and has been used as a dumping ground for rubbish.
According to the application, the venue will have a small floor space limiting customer numbers to around 20 people and will close at 11pm.
"The premises has been vacant for a number of years and needs some attention to restore it back to its original glory," the application states.
"The proposal depends on attracting and maintaining customers drawn from the local residents within walking distance of the pub.
"This means the business will be most attractive to older clients or people looking for the atmosphere of a traditional family local."
