JURORS in the trial of a father accused of murdering his three-month-old son have retired to consider their verdict.
Prosecutors allege Robert Hinz inflicted the injuries which led to baby Julian's death on April 8 last year at the family's home in Carysfort Road.
Julian was rushed to hospital after sustaining skull fractures and a bleed to the brain.
He died on April 9 as a result of his injuries.
Hinz, 34, said he had not harmed his son, instead insisting: "He was my son, I loved him, I would do anything for him. I would give my life for him.
“I do not understand what happened, I do not remember but I didn’t murder my son.
“I didn’t do nothing to hurt him.”
The defendant denies murder and three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Jurors sitting at Winchester Crown Court retired yesterday afternoon.
